A battery factory will be established in Bohumín

20. 8. 2020

In the following years, a new battery factory should be established in the city of Bohumín, with the goal of producing battery electrolyte. The Chinese company Guangzhou Tinci Materials Technology is the investor. While their total investment should reach almost CZK 900 million, the aim of their investment in Bohumín is to bring the products closer to the essential customers in Europe. According to the public register, the office of the newly established company Guangzhou Tinci Materials Technology is registered at the same address as the local company in Bohumín, Bochemie. In 2019, Bochemie established an agreement with the company EnerSys to acquire another company, GAZ Geräte- und Akkumulatorenwerk, which specializes in the development, production, and sale of high-quality Ni-Cd batteries.

This Chinese investment will not be the first of its kind in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Located in nearby Horní Suchá, the Czech factory HE3DA, which focuses on production of Li-Ion batteries invented by Jan Procházka, plans to start the production in mid-September. However, there are even more battery factories found in the region. The French company SAFT (traditional lead-based battery) operates in Raškovice, in the district of Frýdek-Místek, while the factory of the company A123 Systems can be found in the industrial zone in Ostrava-Hrabová.
