"A Smarter Region" at the Brno International Engineering Fair

The Moravian-Silesian is a regular exhibitor at the Brno International Engineering Fair (IEF) – an event that attracts over 80 000 visitors every year and presents companies and regions from all over the world. The Region used a form of enhanced reality to present its smart solutions, which save citizens’ time, effort and money. Four innovative local companies also had the opportunity to display their products as part of the Region’s presentation. SECTRON, EPO MACHINERY, COMAC CAL and SMARTEV CDS showcased a wide range of their products. Visitors to the presentation stand were able to see collaborative robots, intelligent flow meters and charging points for electric cars and bikes. This year’s fair brought a new development as the Moravian-Silesian Region was participating in partnership with the Ústí Region; both regions are members of the EU’s Coal Platform. The Region’s strong innovation base was reflected in the award of the IEF’s Gold Medal, which went to the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava. The winning entry in the medal competition was the StudentCar SCX electric sports car, which features an innovative design in its wheel drive systems.
