New industrial zone to be created in Ostrava-Hrušov20. 11. 2019
The developer Contera has begun preparations for its new industrial zone – Contera Park Ostrava D1 – which will be created directly adjacent to the D1 motorway at a former brownfield site. The zone is forecast to generate at least 700 new jobs within 5 years.
Ostrava’s Mayor Tomáš Macura welcomed the investment: “This brownfield site – which used to be a residential area – will again be full of people, and I’m delighted by that. Moreover, the planned new logistics centre will not only bring 700 new jobs in logistics and manufacturing, but thanks to the office complex – which will be modelled on a technology park – the project will also create jobs with high added value. It will have a very positive impact on the entire region.”
In September 2017 the City of Ostrava announced a call for proposals to invest at the site. It received four high-quality offers from renowned international investors. Following a multi-criteria evaluation and selection process, in November 2018 the City concluded a purchase contract with the investor whose offer was judged the best – Contera. The company paid the City 255 million CZK for the site, which covers 35 hectares.
The first phase of construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2023, and the entire project (covering 1400 000 square metres) will be completed in 2025. Contera and TPG plan to build not only factory-type halls that can be used for light manufacturing or storage, but also flexispace structures combining warehouse space with offices or sales premises, as well as facilities for technological research and development. The total volume of investment at the zone is expected to reach around 2 billion CZK.
