The Moravian-Silesian Region attracts BS companies

19. 8. 2020

The Moravian-Silesian Region has great potential regarding the growth of the area of business services. The regional joint-stock company Moravian-Silesian Investment and Development (MSID) has long been dedicated to developing the environment for investment. It is now actively targeting the Nordic countries, especially Finland and more recently also Sweden.

"Our region is investment attractive, offers a qualified workforce, quality infrastructure, cooperation with universities and countless other opportunities. Investors have access to interesting commercial real estate and available space for larger investments. Our great advantage is the strategic location and excellent connections to the surrounding countries. We offer all these benefits through the regional company MSID, which communicates with potential investors," said Jan Krkoška, Deputy Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region for Regional Development. Since the beginning of February, in addition to Prague, he has been working also in our regional city, where he is gradually expanding his team.

Business or strategic service centres provide their external clients with operational activities such as human resources, IT, accounting, or sophisticated structural, design or graphic activities. There are already several centres of such sort in the Moravian-Silesian Region, yet there is still considerable room for growth, as confirmed by the Association of Business Services Leaders (ABSL).

MSID has developed a concept of how to proceed in the field of business services. With regard to companies already established in this sector, MSID has chosen the Nordic countries as a pilot area of interest. "I consider it a success to establish an extensive communication network in Finland where we work with local development offices, honorary consuls, the Center for Economic Development, and others. The plan is to replicate this process in other countries; now we are starting with Sweden. Our primary intention is to get Ostrava on the map of business services," said Tomáš Kolárik, the director of MSID, and explained that MSID's activities include mapping and registration of business properties in the region, such as offices, retail space and brownfields, offering them to interested parties, and subsequent care of existing investors. In this case, the representatives of MSID actively identify the investors' plans, needs as well as limitations and employ these in their collaboration with them. The company also actively promotes and offers the Moravian-Silesian Region as an investment-attractive region to foreign investors.
