Regional winner of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2020 is the owner of FINIDR

EY, with the support of Ivo Vondrák, the Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region, has announced the regional winner of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2020. The winner Jaroslav Drahoš is the owner and managing director of FINIDR, Inc., which is one of the largest producers of paperback and hardcover books in Central Europe. The FINIDR printing house has an annual turnover of approximately 1 billion crowns and produces 1,000 titles per month in a total of approximately 2.5 million copies.       

An unbiased jury appreciated Jaroslav Drahoš's great efforts to make his business sustainable. In the production of all books, Drahoš's company uses environmentally friendly electricity from renewable sources and actively reduces its carbon footprint. Large investments are made in state-of-the-art technologies and the purchased production machines guarantee carbon neutrality.

Ivo Vondrák, the Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region, comments on the competition and its winners as follows: "The EY Entrepreneur of the Year has a long tradition in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The competition has already drawn attention to inspiring and successful entrepreneurs from our region for a total of fifteen times. In the past, three of our regional winners have managed to win the national round. This indicates not only that the Moravian-Silesian Region belongs to the group of the most successful regions in this competition, but it also confirms that our region is a place where talented and courageous entrepreneurs do really well." 

Vondrák also added that the winners of the national competition were Jannis Samaras, Kofola (2011); Adam, Valdemar and Mariusz Walachová, WALMARK (2010); and Pavel Juříček, BRANO Group (2006). With the exception of the year 2019, when the title was not awarded by the jury, Moravian-Silesian entrepreneurs regularly appear on the list of national finalists and the best entrepreneurs in the country.         

The results of the national finals and the winners of the EY Entrepreneur of 2020 in the Czech Republic will be announced on 7 April 2021. The winner from the Czech Republic will then take part in the world’s final in June 2021. In this world’s final round, the Czech winner will compete along the national winners from fifty countries of the world for the title of World EY Entrepreneur of the Year.
