The regional winner of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 competition is the owner of CarTec Group

EY, with the support of the Governor of the Moravian-Silesian Region Ivo Vondrák, has announced the winners of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 of the Moravian-Silesian Region. The winner is Karel Kadlec, the largest authorised BMW dealer in the Czech Republic.

Today, CarTec has more than 300 employees and sells over 600 cars a year at its branches in Ostrava, Prague, Brno, Liberec and Olomouc. From what was originally a small family business, Karel Kadlec has managed to build a holding with a turnover of three billion.

This year's winner was selected by an independent jury composed mainly of national winners of previous years of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year competition. The jury particularly highlighted the high quality standards of the CarTec Group, which is backed by the owner's motto: "The difference is in the approach". It is the highly professional yet friendly service that CarTec provides to its clients that is behind several awards the company has won in the past for the best service not only in the region and Europe, but also worldwide. 

"The win is certainly not just my own doing, but mainly the people around me. As my wife says with exaggeration, I am more of a spearman who comes up with a vision and an idea and sets the direction. But those who then make this vision come true are my whole team of co-workers. My gratitude and thanks go to them," said Karel Kadlec after receiving the award.

The Moravian-Silesian Region is the second strongest region in the current edition of the competition, after the capital city of Prague.  Compared to last year, it has recorded more than 100% growth, and it was also the region where the largest number of women entrepreneurs entered the competition, making up a quarter of the participants.

The results of the national final and the name of the winner of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2021 Czech Republic will be announced on 1 March 2022. The winner from the Czech Republic will participate in the global final in June 2022 and will compete with other national winners from fifty-four countries for the title of EY World Entrepreneur of the Year.
