Now the Region has shifted its focus away from these traditional areas to embrace forward-looking industries driven by innovation and new technologies. The role of the automotive and IT industries has grown considerably during the past decade, and they now employ the same number of people in the Region as the metallurgical industry. Of the total number of employees in the Moravian-Silesian Region, almost 30% work in manufacturing industry (a figure well above the national average).
